April 4: Sungrazing comet C/2026 A1 MAPS
Discovered in January 2026, this comet will pass extremely close to the Sun around April 4th. It’s a sungrazer, likely a fragment of a Kreutz comet. It’s already showing a small tail and diffuse coma and is expected to brighten as it approaches the sun. Its nucleus is estimated to be about 2.4 km in diameter.

April 11-12: Comet C/2025 R3 (PanSTARRS)
This comet will be closest to the Sun on April 19th and will pass closest to Earth on April 26th, reaching a distance of 45.5 million miles (73.2 million km). For the best viewing opportunity, try to spot it around April 11 and 12, located in the morning sky near the constellation Pegasus.
April 22: Lyrid Meteor Shower
The Lyrid Meteor Shower will peak on the night of April 22nd and morning of April 23rd, producing around 20 meteors per hour. The moon will set shortly after midnight, providing favorable viewing conditions. Meteors will radiate from the constellation Lyra but can appear anywhere in the sky.
