The Perseids are among the most popular meteor showers, known for their frequency and brightness. Occurring annually in mid-August, these meteors originate from debris left behind by Comet Swift-Tuttle. Under ideal conditions, far from light pollution, it is possible to see between 60 and 100 meteors per hour!

If you are in Portugal, the Perseids will peak on the night of August 12th – 13th. No special equipment is needed to enjoy this spectacle, all you need is a clear view of the sky. Find a spot away from city lights and prepare to wait a few hours. Stay comfortable and dress warmly against the cold, as the main show takes place around 3:00 AM.
